PS3 Handheld

This is my blog about making a PS3 handheld and I hope it helps other people make one also!
I am writing this blog as i make it so bare with me as i may take a couple days to post a new step but I will try my best to keep it updated.

7/18/2011:
The way this will work is I will have a wireless AV transmitter and receiver and not actually fit a ps3 into a handheld (obviously).  I am in the waiting process of having this being delivered but the one I got is a 2.4GHz transmitter receiver combo (http://www.dinodirect.com/2-4GHz-4-Channel-CCTV-Wireless-AV-Receiver-and-1000mW-Transmitter-2-4G-1W.html#)
Do not use. ITS JUNK!

The next thing I'm going to get is a battery so i don't have to have it plugged in all the time. Since the screen and receiver have 12v inputs (thank god) it makes things a little easier.  So I ordered a 12v battery with 4800mah rechargeable battery. (http://cgi.ebay.com/CCTV-CAMERA-12V-RECHARGEABLE-BATTERY-PACK-CHARGER-LCD-/270718231581?pt=US_Batteries&hash=item3f0810641d)  If link is dead search ebay for it.

Parts List:
Along with the two items above I am also using.
  • A dual shock 3 controller that I got off ebay for a somewhat cheap price.
  • 4.3" car monitor.
  • Broken psp I got off of ebay.  I only need the shell, buttons, and switches.
  • A sheet of sintra for adding to the case.
  • A couple small things include 2 analog sticks for psp, leds for some cools lights :) ,  and maybe some tact switches.
  • A/V to cat5 converter.

Today's note.  I have found out that with my setup using a wireless router it will not work with the A/V transmitter so for the time being i will continue to make this but it will have to be wired.  If anyone has an idea of how to make it work with the router (maybe converting tv signal to packets?)  please let me know!

Here you see my dremel skills. Highlighted spots are where I dremeled.

I'm going to try and use the psp home, start, and select buttons but this screen fits in just perfect in height so i have to put new tact buttons on the bottom for that.
